Getting Ready For Spring

The daffodils are blooming in the Pacific NW and folks in western Oregon and Washington are getting anxious to plant…SOMETHING. Like a good painter, we can at least take consolation in the thought that Preparation comes before Application. BTW, we can plant onions, peas, and asparagus now and into March here.

This is a good time (if you don’t have snow on the ground) to check on your compost pile(s), repair your trellis, and shoo the chickens out of the garden and into a Spring/Summer home.

I confess, even with our 1st year load of chips, the only 2 green things in our garden is a small clump of grass and a volunteer plant that looks like a keeper.

The overall garden is all chips and a bit of hay from our dairy cow pen. Our raised bed has some onions coming up!! (There is netting for the hens)
